Cachea offers two options for 2FA.
You can receive a code by email, or use an authentication app. Think of 2FA as a double-locked door. Even if someone has the key (your password), they need a special code that only you can get.
Email 2FA (Get your code by email)
Email 2FA means Cachea sends a unique code to your inbox every time you log in. This is helpful if you check your email often and want a simple way to add security.
To set up email 2FA:
- Go to the top right corner and click on ‘My account’ and a drop down menu should appear.
- Select Config.
- Select the ‘User Information’ tab.
- Choose to set up using Email.
- Complete the steps.
Next time you sign in, Cachea will ask for the code you received by email. Make sure your account email is current and that you can check it whenever you log in.
App-Based 2FA (Use an authenticator app)
For app-based 2FA, you use an app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or FreeOTP to generate login codes. Each code works just once and is valid for a short time. This is like having a safe that gives you a fresh, secret code every few seconds.
To set up app-based 2FA:
- Go to the top right corner and click on ‘My account’ and a drop down menu should appear.
- Select Config.
- Select the ‘User Information’ tab.
- Choose to set up using an OTP app.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Enter the code from your app to complete setup.
Keep your phone or device handy. If you uninstall the app or lose your device before finishing setup, you won’t have the final code you need. Complete the process during one session. Always save any backup codes. These help you get back into your account if your app is not available.
Important Reminders
- You must enter a valid, verified one-time code to complete app-based 2FA setup. Cachea will no longer enable OTP-based 2FA until you supply a correct code from your authenticator app during configuration. This means non-validated OTP is never enabled.
- If you close your browser or leave before entering the code, app-based 2FA will not be activated, and you will not be locked out.
- For email 2FA, always double-check your inbox for the code before you log out.
