Cachea’s site credentials feature helps you save full articles from websites that require a login, such as subscription or paywalled pages. When you set it up correctly, Cachea can access content you’re allowed to view, making your article archive even more complete.
Saving Login-Only Pages Without Site Credentials
You usually don’t need to enter site credentials for most websites that only require a simple login, like a free member account. If you’re already logged in on your browser and use the Cachea browser extension to save the article, Cachea can usually grab the full content without extra steps.
Site credentials become important mostly for paywalled or subscription services where access must be granted directly to Cachea, not just your browser.
Why You Might Need Site Credentials
Some websites – like subscription news sources – hide their best articles behind a sign-in. Cachea will now use what you enter whenever you try to save a page from that domain.
Setting Up Site Credentials
You can add your username and password for a specific website in Cachea:
- Go to the top right menu and select “Site credentials.”
- Add the website domain (like example.com) and your subscriber login info.
- Save your changes.
Now, Cachea will use what you enter whenever you try to save a page from that domain.

Tips for Saving Subscribed Content
- If the article isn’t saving fully, try disabling your browser ad-blockers. Ad-blockers can block the things Cachea needs to securely log in or load your subscribed article fully.
- Refresh the article page after turning off ad-blockers. Then, save it to Cachea.
- Site credentials won’t work for every paywalled site. Some websites use advanced login steps or scripts that Cachea can’t follow. If an article doesn’t save, check if the site needs more than just a username and password to log in.

Responsible Use and Sharing
Cachea’s public link tool lets you share a version of your saved articles. Avoid sharing paywalled or subscription-only content with this tool, since that can break publisher agreements and copyright. Always use site credentials for your own access, not to distribute restricted content.
If you want your friend or colleague to read the same story, share the publisher’s official link. This way, everyone enjoys Cachea the right way, and you support the sites you value.
